The Etymotic ER3XR earphone is a great choice for those who want a balanced sound signature with a little more bass warmth. The ER3XR is capable of rendering small details very well, making it sound transparent and among the very best single-BA in-ears that we know. The Etymotic ER3-SE is the more strait-laced and neutral of the two, with the ER3-XR giving a little more bass warmth. Both however sound a little more gentle in terms of the midrange than their ER4 brethren.
The metal build of the housing with the reinforced jacks makes these fairly durable. The packaging of the Etymotic ER3XR earphone is simpler and less inclusive than that of Etymotic ER4XR. It includes the IEMs, a carrying solution, and a selection of tips and filters. The filters are there to protect the IEM from debris and dust gathering inside, and it is not recommended to use an Etymotic IEM without its filters.
In conclusion, the Etymotic ER3XR earphone is a great choice for those who want a balanced sound signature with a little more bass warmth. It is a great all-rounder with a tuning that works well with genres such as modern dance music.
